What is Bountiful Baskets?

Bountiful Baskets is a non-profit food co-op for individuals that want to have more fresh produce for less money. Each basket is $15 and comes with 50% fruit & 50% vegetables. You can upgrade to an organic produce basket for $10 more.  They also offer artisan breads and add-ons such as 40lbs of apples, 10lbs of asparagus, juice packs, mexican packs, and italian packs. The Italian add-on pack for example came with onions, garlic, squash, herbs, and eggplant.

Bountiful Baskets will typically give you some of your in season favorites such as apples, bananas, onions, and lettuce. In addition, they also give you new items to try such as persimmons, endive, jicama, and orange beets. I have a family of two and 1 basket will last us for 2 weeks.

How to Sign-up for Bountiful Baskets?

To signup for Bountiful Baskets visit www.bountifulbaskets.org.  Online sign-ups open every Monday and close on Tuesday.  You will select your state, county, and then a pickup site. Pickups occur on Saturday, usually around 8am-1pm. Continue onto the ordering page where you will select the amount of baskets and if you want regular or organic. Some of the add-on items go quickly, so the sooner you order the better. Once you have finished ordering, you will pay with a credit card. You will be emailed a confirmation, which you will take with you to your pick-up site.

On the day of your pickup you must arrive on time and bring with you something to carry your items in such as a box or grocery bags.  You will check in with the head volunteer which will tell you what basket is yours. After taking the produce out of the baskets, it would be helpful if you wiped them down and stacked them. They also ask that you volunteer occasionally, since this is a 100% volunteer based program.
